Stampin' Creative Blog Hop - Wonderful Women

Welcome! Whether you've arrived by hopping from Pip's blog or just decided to stop by today, welcome, one and all!
So, today's blog hop was originally themed to tie in with Mothers Day and I was all set to borrow some suitable stamps, no problem. Though I have to say that Wonderful Women is, perhaps, a more rounded, versatile theme. There are so many wonderful women that pass through our lives and it's good to celebrate them all.
The first project I'm sharing with you is a box that I saw recently on the Stampin' Up! US website. A Diamond Box created by one of European Artisan Award winners - Jessica Winter.

As soon as I saw the box I wanted to make one. And surprisingly easy it was too despite looking as if it would take forever to make! I used our lovely white Shimmer Cardstock, Versamark with Dazzling Diamonds embossing powder, Wink of Stella and a tiny touch of Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
Here is a close up of the lid -

Why this box for today's theme? It's multi faceted, just like a woman. I chose a bright but deep colour, Calypso Coral, to represent the depth of a woman and her vivacity, and the design - well, the stamps chosen (Grateful Bunch) are delicate, to represent our fragility, the flower because we grow and bloom.
Here is the matching card.

If you like my projects or have any questions, feel free to comment below before hopping over to Emma's Blog via the button.
We do hope you are inspired to go create today!

    Look Who's Turning 60!

Dee turned 60 on Thursday. We got to spend a lovely couple of hours with her on Tuesday when we enjoyed a cream tea together.
I'd thought to make a card in a box but her best friend was doing that. Just couldn't think what to make, since I hadn't used my new dies, I went for simple but in a pretty pink - blushing bride.
It also fits well with my #imbringingbirthdaysback campaign.
    I hope she likes it!

    Promotion Congratulations

One of my lovely ladies also promoted last month. This calls for a card!
I'd started off with the intention of making a bokeh card but seemed to veer off theme somewhat!
Not sure that you can see the gentle sparkle from the dazzling diamonds embossing powder....but it's there!
Congratulations Cathryn! Your long awaited promotion is well deserved!

    An Oldie

I recently came across a batch of spare swaps from one of the very first events I attended. In my excitement I'd made way too many! Never fear! When I needed a quick birthday card this week, one of those swaps came in very handy!
Although a very simple card, these swaps took ages as I cut a stencil of the union flag (or Jack, to you and me!) and then stamped through it with a floral stamp in two colours. I remember swapping these in Croydon and them being popular.
I do hope the recipient doesn't think it too simple a card!

    #imbringingbirthdaysback

#imbringingbirthdaysback - have you seen the hashtag recently?
It often seems that social media isn't always, well, social. We see someone's name and get invited to wish them 'Happy Birthday' but then, that's it.
Shannon West who is part of the Stampin' Up! home office team recently decided that she was, for her part, going to bring birthdays back. She's even been featured on US television talking about it! How neat is that! You can link to the video here by clicking on the picture below:

Well, I agree! There's nothing quite like good old snail mail and getting a card in the post - even better if it's handmade too!
So, I've joined the campaign. I've posted on my Facebook page and have collected a few names, along with their birth dates and addresses.
People seem delighted to look forward to receiving a card!
If you'd like to join my Facebook campaign then please do visit this post and add your birthday, follow up and send me your address by private message. I will add you to the list!
Join the campaign on my Facebook page by clicking on the picture at the start of this post or the one below.

I'm off to continue my campaign on Instagram.
I'd love for you to join me!

    Happy Mail

Many of you will know I achieved my promotion in Stampin' Up! land on the 26th January. I was so pleased to finally make it!
I was also fortunate to get Happy Mail that week, Three lovely cards landed on my doormat. All were a total surprise. Lucky girl!
I'd like to share them with you.
This card is from Laini -
Inside she'd written a lovely message.
This card is from her Mum, Lisa. What a nice sentiment on the front of her card -
The third card is a congratulations from Pat, how kind!
Always such a treat to get snail mail. Speaking of which, pop back Saturday for #bringingbirthdaysback

    Botanicals Card Set

Yesterday I showed the small gift box of cards I made for my new neighbour. Today you'll see the cards which were inside.
I'm not normally a 'floral' person but I just love the tropical feel of the new Botanical Blooms stamp set. There's also a co-ordinating set of dies (so no fussy cutting out!) and a pack of DSP (paper). The fact that you can also get another FREE set of matching stamps during Saleabration (SAB) is fantastic!
    take a closer look.
Here, in slightly 'fuzzifoto's', are the cards....

Below is a photo of the whole set. I do hope she liked them.
Thinking Ladies in my 'Just for Fun' classes might like to do these this month.
Do let me know what you think - feedback is always good!

    A Small Gift

Yesterday we were invited have a drink and get to know out new neighbours.
Apart from wine, I wanted to take something  a little more personal but, not knowing her taste, I wasn't sure what that gift would be until I spotted our latest issue of Stampin' Success.
It featured a set of cards in a box, great idea. I seemed to spend most of the afternoon on these cards. Honestly, you'd not know I first stamped as an adult 25 years ago! I had speckles of white embossing powder EVERYWHERE!
Anyhow, a few hours later I emerged from my craft room, a bedraggled wreck, grasping my four cards. I then had little time to make the box so decided on a belly band around an acetate box (photo above). The band wasn't quite what I'd intended and I wasn't pleased with the colour, despite it being one of those in the floral paper design.
I was much happier with the cards themselves and hope you'll stop by tomorrow when I'll be showing those to you.
