Grunge with a little sparkle

Yesterday I made this card and posted it on my facebook page. Then I remembered that not all of you are on facebook. So here it is, just for you.....
So, what do you think?
I wanted it to have slightly more masculine colours but not go into the brown or blue/brown colour range, so opted for last years In Colours with a little lift from silver glimmer paper.
A mix of stamp sets here - Gorgeous Grunge, Six Sided Sampler, Label Love, Hello Lovely. Just as well that Stampin' Up!'s stamps work so well together!

The Excitement Is Over

Hello everyone! I'd been waiting for so long to go to my very first Stampin' Up! convention and it seems as if it is over in a flash. Last Thursday I travelled to Manchester with two friends, both demos. I was so excited although, having got lost on the way to pick them and driving around Basingstoke for an hour before setting out on the main drive, I did have the wind taken out of my sails a little. Thankfully, we still arrived in time.

The whole event seems like a whirlwind now. After checking in at the hotel, we registered in the evening, collecting our super new backpack (there's always a bag for each attendee) which contained our lanyards, catalogues, pen and 3 stamp sets. Demos who have reached the status of Silver2 or above went to a special reception - not me, I went along with loads of other demos to the Mix & Mingle session and did the bulk of my swapping then, thus leaving me to concentrate on the main events Friday and Saturday.
There was a real buzz in the atmosphere, we also managed, finally, put faces to the names we hear and people we speak so often from our demo support team. There was so much to see but we saved it for the following day, just using the time to catch up with friends, old and new.
I have so many photos to share with you but will post some over the next few days.

Convention Swaps 2013

Well, here's my little swap. It measures only 2x4 inches and is titled 'Honey'.
Had to prop it up on a speaker to get a clear photo! Although it is very simple there were several steps to making this, and here they are, at the request of Jan Brackpool.
First I cut the smoky slate card to size then embossed it with the woodgrain folder and rubbed ink onto the card. Now for the crushed curry card, emboss with the honeycomb folder and rub with ink, rip into pieces and stick to the smoky slate card. Add some crystal effects to give the impression of honey in a honeycomb and leave to dry.
Stamp the sentiment (from the Creatively Yours stamp set) onto cotton ribbon ,cut to size and stick to card.
Stamp the bee (from the Backyard Basics stamp set) in black staz-on onto window sheets and cut them out with the matching die - yes, all 130 of them! Cut 130 pieces of crushed curry card and stick onto the reverse of the bee to make the 'body'. Bend to shape the bees body and bend the wings upwards. Attach dimensionals and fix to card................
Now repeat this 130 times!!!

Packing for convention

Well, all  my little bees are stuck on my swaps, they're boxed, ready to go....................
So looking forward to convention. Also looking forward to seeing some new products that we'll be bringing you. On Friday I'll post a picture of my swap, it's only tiny but I don't want to spoil it for the recipients before they get theirs. There's snow in Manchester so keep your fingers crossed that it'll be gone by the time I get there and there isn't any on the journey up.

Busy as a bee!

Hi everyone!
I've been very busy getting my swaps prepared for our convention which starts on Thursday in Manchester.
Just putting the last bits together this evening having been surrounded by 130 bees for the past few days. The bees in questions are part of my swap and are made by stamping the bee stamp from the Backyard Basics set onto Window Sheets, then die cutting them using the matching dies. To finish off I made 'bodies' for them from crushed curry cardstock and shaped the bodies and wings.
Here's a picture which shows around half of the swarm.......
Well, what do you think. I think they're rather lovely! Certainly a lot easier to have around than the real thing!.
Off to finish my swaps and other bits and pieces.

Not just for envelopes!

One of my customers, Jan, has been impatiently waiting for her new Envelope Punch Board to arrive. Today she sent me a message to say that she was using it and that she had 'so many boxes and even made an evnvelope to match a card'. She's very kindly allowed me to show you her projects here.
As you can see, even as a newbie to the board, she's come up with great results! She says "it's great... except I have so many boxes with chocolates in them hubby keeps asking what am I going to do with them". Perfect for Christmas, I say! It's super simple to use and even has it's own corner rounder punch built in.
If you'd like to be the proud owner of our new envelope punch board then contact me or shop online at my store - link to the right.

A little 'Thanks'

Hadn't realised, but I seem to have missing from here in a while! Today I've dropped by with a little 'Thanks' notecard, one of two designs I've given out to my Stampers 10 ladies this month.

These notecards come with their own envelopes and are great for a quick card. Teamed here with the Hostess set 'Morning Meadow' and 'A Whole Lot of Thanks', stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and Soft Sky. Two tiny pearl embellishments for dimension and they're done. Voila!

Treasure Hunt Winners

Remember this?
I can now announce the winners of the Fall Late Night Stampers Treasure Hunt.
In the US the prize was won by Lisa Eisner and the Canadian winner was Sheri Lee. Well done Ladies and thank you for visiting our blogs.
Sadly, no there were no entries from the UK so we don't have a winner here, but perhaps next time!

Congratulations

I wanted to send a simple congratulations card. Since I don't find simple cards easy, I followed KISS - Keep It Short & Simple. This is what I came up with:
The photograph is a little crooked, I'm afraid, and I also forgot to take a photo of the envelope that I made with my new envelope punch board. I did have fun making it though! The card is made using one of our cute little notelets, yes, they do come with envelopes. Colours are the In Colours 2012 - 2014, stamps from 3 different sets - My Friend, Mosaic Madness, Sweet Essentials.

ItemDescriptionPrice
133774Envelope Punch Board24,95€/£17,95
The punch blade may start to dull after approximately 1,000 punches.
  • It creates totally customisable envelopes in up to 66 different sizes (not to mention a million different colour and pattern options depending on the paper you want to use). Even tried and true envelope sizes will only take you moments to create!
  • It’s super easy to use; it will go over as a huge wow when you demonstrate it at your events and your customers see it in action. It looks intimidating at first glance, but when they see that all you have to do is measure for the first punch and from there you just turn and score they’ll go crazy (in a good way).
  • It’s small and lightweight; this makes it easy for you to take it to your events and show it. It’s also a great selling point when you show your customers how it’s super portable and easy to store. It’s small and light enough that they could use it while watching a football match, at a park, at a friend’s for craft night—anywhere.
  • It even has a clever scoring tool as well as a punch that lets you create rounded corners on your envelopes.
  • It’s easy to keep it all together; the stylus storage compartment and two punches are designed into the tool so you don’t have a bunch of little pieces to keep track of (even the instructions are printed right on the tool so you won’t lose them!).
  • The price is terrific--especially for a tool that does so much!
  • It will be in next year’s annual catalogue, so it’s here to stay
